Palmer, Ak to Seward, AK

Connie...
Today was a travel day as we left Palmer (Anchorage) and made our way to Seward. Yesterday was a cloudy, windy and chilly day and we were really hoping for some sun. Well wouldn't you know, the day we leave, the sky was completely blue and temps were already rising when we pulled out of the campground. Oh well, at least it made for a good trip.
It seemed very strange driving down the highway and not seeing another Hitchhiker leading us out. Our traveling buddies, Robert & Leslie are still camping at Brooks Lodge, and will be back in Palmer on Tuesday. Stan & I will stay in Seward until Wednesday and then head back to meet up with them. Can't wait to hear all their bear stories. I bet they will have some amazing pics.

The pictures in this post are of the mud flats created by the glacier in the very first picture. It is constantly changing depending on the water currents, wind and the amount of melt from the glacier. It looked very much like sand on the beach, but don't think you would want to try and walk on it. Probably would sink like quick sand.

Although the water appears blue, it is actually very grey from the the sand and silt runoff.  Whenever you pass a river or body of water that looks grey, it has come from a glacier.
Above and below pictures are some of the mountains along the Seward Highway.  We sure do hope everyone who follows our blog enjoys the scenery as much as we do.  It's never taken for granted, just taken in.
